Speedboat Crossing - Basic Info

Today, boat transportation between Camamu, Barra Grande and the Marau Peninsula are far more organized than they used to be. By far, most of the boat crossings are now done by speedboat.

The 2 Boat Companies

There are two companies that offer speedboat service between Barra Grande, Marau and Camamu: the Associação Marítima and Camamu Adventure. Both are extremely safe and regulated by the Bahian Coast Guard. All of the mariners here are professionally certified.

The 2 companies basically keep the same timetable as well as pricing. They leave on the hour, and besides the tourists, they also serve the local communities within the Bay of Camamu. such as Ilha Grande, Ilha do Sapinho (Frog Island), and Campinho.

Associação Marítima de Camamu

 

Associação Marítima de Camamu is a cooperative run by the professional mariners within the Bay of Camamu, and they have one store where you can purchase tickets. they are located less than 100 meters from the Camamu bus station, next to the Artesenal Market. In Barra Grande, the Associação Marítima is located just in front of the main pier of Barra Grande. You can purchase your tickets ahead of time online here, if you would like.

 

Camamu Adventure

Camamu Adventure is a private company that owns and operates their own boats, and they have their own pier as well. They are located right in front of the Camamu bus station, and in Barra Grande they are located directly in front of the main pier.

Speedboat Prices

 

Associação Marítima – R$60 per person, children up to 5 years free

Camamu Adventure – R$67 per person, children up to 2 years free

Other Points of Departure

Besides providing service to visiting tourists, they also serve the local population and the various villages in the Bay of Camamu. If there is no need to stop, the boats travel non-stop between Camamu and Barra Grande. These stops may include:

• Ilha Grande
• Campinho
• Taipu de Dentro
• Ilha do Sapinho

Duration of the Boat Crossing

The average time for the crossing is 30 minutes. However this may take up to 40 minutes if there are stops along the way.
